- SEGA revealed Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds during this year's Game Awards show.
SEGA has announced a new racing game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, titled Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The short teaser, which was revealed during The Game Awards tonight, features Shadow the Hedgehog getting into his car and racing off into a ring-shaped multi-color portal before the title is revealed. Notably, the environment Shadow is initially racing in looks very detailed and almost realistic. This upcoming racing title comes over five years after the last one, Team Sonic Racing, which featured five teams of three characters each in a team-based race.
According to a statement provided to the team at Tails' Channel, "Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds features a distinct racing mechanic that promises to transport Sonic racing fans into a new dimension."[1] The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley also revealed he's already played it, according to our friends at Sonic Stadium.[2] He also claims that additional information will be arriving next year.
The trailer reveals that it will be playable on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, and PC via the Steam and the Epic Games Store. A release date or window, however, were not provided at this time.
