- First trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by Paramount Pictures was released today during The Game Awards 2021

During this year's The Game Awards 2021 and as part of Sonic's continuing 30th Anniversary celebration, Sega and Paramount released the first trailer for the upcoming sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The trailer was originally announced by the official Sonic the Hedgehog movie's Twitter account on December 8, when the official poster for the movie was revealed with an announcement that the trailer would release at The Game Awards.
The trailer features Sonic the Hedgehog as he tries to find a place to do good with his powers. It also features the return of Jim Carey as Dr. Robotnik, now set on retrieving the source of ultimate power, the Master Emerald. The trailer also showcases Sonic and Tails team up on a bi-plane similar to the Tornado. The trailer concludes by showing Sonic facing off against Idris Elba's Knuckles the Echidna, who appears to be working with Dr. Robotnik.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will release on April 8, 2022.
