It's been three years since the end of the last Sonic the Hedgehog television series, Sonic Boom, but today, Netflix has announced a new television series. Few details were shared about what the series is about, but SEGA and WildBrain did say that it would be a 24-episode animated adventure aimed at kids, families, and long-time fans of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It will be featuring Sonic working to save a new "multiverse", but will also be a journey of self-discovery and redemption.

The series is being animated by WildBrain's Vancouver studio, with SEGA and WildBrain working together on production, distribution, and licensing. Man of Action Entertainment will be working as showrunners and executive producers on the show. The series will be premiering on Netflix in 2022.
