Sonic 3D Blast, also known as Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island, is a 1996 platform action-adventure title in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It was developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Sega, and follows Sonic's adventures on Flicky Island as he rescues the flickies from Dr. Robotnik's latest scheme.

The title was published in North America on November 30, 1996 for the Sega Genesis and was shortly thereafter released on the Sega Saturn, with a release for PC the following year. The title was also later released in Europe and Japan under the title Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island. It has since been re-released, both individually and as bundled with other titles, on the PlayStation 2, Steam, and the Wii Virtual Console, among others.

Story[edit | edit source]

Dr. Robotnik learns about Flickies, mysterious birds that live in another dimension and can travel anywhere through large rings. He decides to goes to Flicky Island and traps the Flickies, placing them within his robots and making them search for the chaos emeralds so that he can conquer the world. Sometime later, Sonic visits Flicky Island, but only finds the robots. He sets out to defeat the robots and free the Flickies trapped inside.

As he does so, he challenges Dr. Robotnik, who uses various different robotic contraptions, on multiple occasions. Finally, he faces Dr. Robotnik's final weapon, which he defeats and destroys. The Flickies are freed, and peace and freedom return to Flicky Island.
