Story[edit | edit source]

Having acquired the six chaos emeralds, Dr. Robotnik begins to test the ultimate destructive weapon. However, a costly mistake by one of his assistants sends five of the emeralds scattering throughout the planet Mobius. Hearing of this, Sonic the Hedeghog and Tails arrive on Mobius to search for the emeralds. In addition to Robotnik, the duo also have to deal with Knuckles the Echidna, the guardian of the emeralds who Robotnik has tricked into thinking Sonic and Tails are out to steal the gems. They also have to deal with Nack the Weasel, a treasure hunter who doesn't understand the power of the chaos emeralds, but believes he can get a good price for them if he can get his hands on them.
